DB engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Implement observability using industry tools like APM tools, log aggregators, metrics monitoring, and define and monitor SLA, SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.
• Ensure availability, scalability, and performance of database systems.
• Design, build, and maintain core database infrastructure.
• Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing to support high-throughput systems.
• Lead incident response for database-related outages and conduct blameless postmortems.
• Work closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and SREs to ensure seamless database operations.
• Provide database expertise and support during the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Proficiency in SAP Sybase Administration.
• Total experience of 5 to 15 years in database management or related fields.
• Knowledge of SQL and experience with databases such as DB2, Oracle, Sybase.
• Experience with query optimization, reading query plans, and improving database performance.
• Ability to monitor database capacity, services, and quotas proactively.
• Experience in incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Nice to Have

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in database administration and management.
• Educational background or certifications in IT or related fields (implied).
