About the Role

The Development and Alumni Relations Coordinator at WSU Vancouver is responsible for planning, facilitating, and reporting within the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. The role supports the Senior Director of Development in engaging with campus leaders, volunteers, donors, and alumni to promote philanthropic activities. The position involves overseeing gift processing, donor stewardship, managing scholarships and annual giving, and handling administrative functions, all while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. This full-time, on-site role is integral to fostering community engagement and supporting the university's development goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee department gift processing and stewardship activities, including communicating with donors and alumni regarding gifts, endowment agreements, gift planning documents, and non-cash gifts.
  • Support the Senior Director of Development by coordinating workflow, handling special projects, and providing technical support to development officers on gift processing, receipts, and acknowledgements.
  • Manage department scholarships and annual giving programs, including serving as the main contact for student fundraising efforts.
  • Act as the primary point of contact on funds involving donor gifts to ensure donor gift intent is honored.
  • Exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying rules, policies, and ethics related to professional fundraising activities.
  • Handle administrative functions for the WSU Vancouver Development and Alumni Relations office, including day-to-day operations and special projects.
  • Engage with alumni and donors to foster relationships and promote engagement activities.
  • Manage scholarship processes and support annual giving initiatives.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience, including six (6) months of full-time experience in marketing, gift solicitation, or public contact work.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and organize and execute assignments.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet departmental driving standards.
  • Experience or familiarity with higher education or complex organizations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, initiate, strategize, and organize activities, events, or programs is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in higher education or similar complex organizations.
  • Previous coordination and project management responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree; a Master’s degree in a relevant field may substitute for up to one year of experience.
