Job Description

About the Role

As a DevOps engineer in our team, you will have the opportunity to work on innovative cloud platform technologies (AWS, GCP) and implement tools to automate maintenance and support our engineering environments. You will also work closely with our Platform Engineering team to deploy changes to our engineering environments with a view to enabling verification of these changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design infrastructure and automated systems to support our distributed architecture
  • Build and Manage CI/CD pipelines and constantly improve their reliability & speed, and reduce lead time for changes
  • Trace performance bottlenecks and identify optimizations and improvements at both the infrastructure and application level
  • Collaborate with our engineering team to meet high SLO and SLA requirements from customers
  • Maintain highly available web and backend systems that serve millions of users, and thousands of requests per second
  • Closely collaborate with Developers to set up, configure, and plan the necessary cloud services in support of new feature development on AWS
  • Secure our infrastructure at both the cloud layer (IAM) and application layer (PKI)
  • Build and expand monitoring and alerting systems for infrastructure and business operations, using internal tools & integrating with third-party SaaS solutions
  • Establish comprehensive infrastructure-as-code coverage to support our platform
  • Develop tools to enhance and support Developer Productivity
  • Champion automation of manual processes and reduce operational overhead

Requirements

  • 5+ years DevOps experience
  • 2+ years experience orchestrating large scale distributed microservice deployments on Kubernetes and EC2
  • 2+ years experience building and managing EKS clusters and strong knowledge of the K8s ecosystem
  • A degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Demonstrable experience in infrastructure as code frameworks, in particular with Terraform, and configuration management using Ansible
  • Production experience in creating and maintaining cloud environments in AWS, spanning multiple geographic regions
  • Experience building tooling, automation, and/or services in languages such as Go, Python, Bash, or Typescript
  • Experience debugging and optimizing systems and code
  • Automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications with Docker or Kubernetes
  • Strong hands-on experience with the AWS ecosystem
  • Familiarity with service mesh concepts and experience implementing frameworks like Istio or Linkerd with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Prometheus/Grafana/Cloudwatch metrics monitoring, ELK/OpenSearch stack for logging, and alerting tools like PagerDuty
  • Experience scaling and maintaining database technologies such as Postgresql, MySQL, Redis, and DynamoDB
  • Troubleshooting and autoscaling message queueing clusters such as RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka
  • Passion for automation and integrating with build systems like GitHub, GitLab CI
  • Security-centric approach to infrastructure design and deployment
  • Ability to quickly learn complex systems from network to application layers

Nice to Have

  • Experience with service mesh frameworks like Istio or Linkerd
  • Experience with high availability message queueing systems like RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka
  • Experience with database technologies such as Postgresql, MySQL, Redis, DynamoDB
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Cloudwatch, ELK/OpenSearch
  • Experience with automation in multiple programming languages
  • Knowledge of infrastructure security best practices

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
