About the Role

The Digital Content Specialist at California State University (CSU) Northridge is responsible for overseeing the college's digital presence, including website management, social media content creation, electronic communications, and community engagement activities. The role involves collaborating with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to produce accessible, impactful digital content that supports strategic initiatives and enhances community outreach. The position emphasizes adherence to digital accessibility standards, SEO best practices, and effective communication to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee CECS's website, ensuring proper maintenance and adherence to accessibility and SEO standards.
  • Curate compelling social media posts and develop engaging electronic communications.
  • Produce a bi-monthly e-newsletter in collaboration with University Advancement.
  • Manage digital assets and foster community engagement through tours and events for external student communities.
  • Support college administrators with tasks related to the execution of the college strategic plan.
  • Assist in developing and managing content for online platforms targeted at external stakeholders.
  • Ensure digital content creation and distribution are accurate, impactful, and aligned with strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college in English, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of full-time professional or technical experience in public affairs, media relations, marketing, or market research.
  • Proficiency in website maintenance and content management systems (CMS).
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders including college leadership, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience in social media content creation, editing, and distribution.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to source and refine content and incorporate graphical elements.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with community engagement activities such as organizing tours and lab visits.
  • Experience supporting strategic initiatives within an academic or organizational setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as English, Marketing, Advertising, or Communications.
  • Three (3) years of relevant professional experience in public affairs, media relations, marketing, or market research.
