About the Role

The California State University, Northridge is seeking a Digital Content Specialist to oversee the college's website, curate social media content, develop electronic communications, and support community engagement activities. The role involves collaborating with university stakeholders to create impactful digital content while adhering to accessibility and SEO standards, contributing to strategic initiatives, and fostering community interactions. The position emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and exemplary service within a supportive campus environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of college and department websites, ensuring adherence to accessibility and SEO guidelines.
  • Create and distribute digital content online, including social media posts and electronic communications targeted toward external stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage content for a bi-monthly external newsletter, collaborating with University Advancement for timely and accurate distribution.
  • Organize and manage community engagement activities such as tours and lab visits for external student communities including high schools and community colleges.
  • Assist college administrators with tasks related to the execution of the college strategic plan and support key initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college in English, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • Equivalent to three (3) years of full-time professional or technical experience in public affairs, media relations, marketing, or market research.
  • Proficiency in website maintenance and content management systems (CMS).
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders including college leadership, faculty, and staff.
  • Expertise in social media content creation, editing, and distribution.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in sourcing and refining content and graphical elements.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with strategic digital communications and community engagement activities.
  • Familiarity with university-level strategic planning and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • Three years of relevant full-time professional or technical experience in public affairs, media relations, marketing, or market research.

Benefits & Perks

  • Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Salary range: $4,146 - $5,717 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience.
  • Full-time position with 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, may include evenings and weekends.
  • Hybrid work schedule (1 day in office, 4 days remote), subject to change based on operational needs.
