Director, Applications System Development

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Leads and develops a highly technical team supporting application system development, production support, and testing.
• Plans, coordinates, and leads software development activities supporting client requests, new sales, strategic initiatives, product development, and internal enhancements.
• Establishes work priorities, provides technical direction, and ensures quality and timeliness of deliverables.
• Drives issue resolution and manages complex problems by providing leadership and expertise.
• Participates in the development of divisional plans, communicates progress, and evaluates industry and technical trends.
• Manages resource planning to meet performance indicators within budgets and service level agreements.
• Communicates work status to executive leadership and builds strong internal and external relationships.
• Acts as an ambassador and senior subject matter expert in client meetings and sales support.
• May manage key vendor relationships and lead cross-functional teams to improve processes.
• Ensures application development practices comply with standards, leads responses to audits, and manages remediation.
• Contributes to strategy development, risk management, and process improvements.
• Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and manages transitions to new tools and processes.
• Acts as a senior escalation point for technical issues and testing, providing solutions and direction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited university; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience.
• At least 5-6 years of experience in a managerial position.
• Experience in application system development, testing, and support.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and resource management skills.
• Ability to manage complex technical problems and lead cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of industry and technical trends relevant to payments and software development.
• Experience with compliance, regulatory standards, and audit processes.

Nice to Have

• Master's Degree in a related field from an accredited university.
• Prior experience in the payments, global payments, or technology industry.
• Experience with vendor management and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Managerial experience of at least 5-6 years.
