The role involves leading the development and execution of enterprise data management products, creating data products and marketplaces, and partnering with enterprise architecture to shape data strategies and governance solutions within the Technology organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the vision for the enterprise data strategy, aligning with product and enterprise teams to support innovation and the rapid-cycle delivery of data-driven products at scale.
  • Lead the development and evolution of AMEX's internal Data Marketplace platform, enabling frictionless discovery, access, and governance of reusable data assets.
  • Partner with technology to ensure a seamless and secure data marketplace for data consumers.
  • Oversee foundational data initiatives by managing a portfolio of projects, collaborating cross-functionally with product, analytics, engineering, and governance teams to ensure alignment with business goals and platform strategies.
  • Define and drive the roadmap for foundational data and technical products, from ideation to development to adoption, ensuring seamless access and usability for internal customers.
  • Promote intuitive and scalable data product design, ensuring offerings meet the evolving needs of enterprise teams.
  • Develop and execute adoption and engagement strategies for foundational data products, establishing KPIs and success metrics to demonstrate value.
  • Craft compelling business cases and value propositions for foundational data capabilities, influencing senior stakeholders to secure buy-in.
  • Identify and prioritize strategic data opportunities and partnerships to enhance the utility and market value of internal data assets.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team focused on data product management and strategy, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Required prior experience in working in large financial institutions or banking industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; experience in the convenience retail and/or hospitality industry preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in analytics, and business intelligence, with a proven track record of leading data initiatives at an enterprise or line of business level.
  • Deep understanding of modern data platforms, metadata management, data lineage, cataloging, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of analytics solutions, including experience with Generative AI and natural language processing.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data insights into strategic business recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience in driving business results.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for business stakeholders.
