Director of Marketing & Fundraising

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and implement strategic plans with short- and long-range goals to meet Broward House funding objectives, enlisting support from staff, Board, and volunteers.
• Identify potential contributors to special project funds and ongoing operations through examination of donor history and community knowledge.
• Establish and supervise maintenance of donor database.
• Coordinate fund drives for special projects.
• Assign responsibilities for personal solicitation to staff, volunteers, and Board members based on their interests or capabilities.
• Develop public relations and marketing materials to enhance Broward House's image and promote fundraising efforts.
• Organize direct mail campaigns to reach potential donors.
• Plan and coordinate benefit events such as banquets, galas, or auctions.
• Develop community and donor recognition programs.
• Maintain contact and updates with long-term and potential donors, encouraging contributions through endowments, trusts, gifts-in-kind, or bequests, and confer with attorneys on transfer methods.
• Supervise activities related to maintaining donor records and preparing appreciation letters.
• Negotiate contracts for fundraising events.
• Coordinate development of all public relations materials and regularly review promotional content to adapt to changing demographics.
• Cultivate and maintain community relationships, including attendance at events to promote the agency.
• Review department budget regularly and realign resources as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a similar field.
• Five years' experience in fundraising for a non-profit organization (highly preferred).
• Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of tax planning principles and techniques that favor charitable giving.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Valid Florida Driver's License and ongoing proof of insurance.
• DCF Level II background screening.
• HIV 500 certification.

Nice to Have

• Experience with developing and managing donor databases.
• Experience organizing large fundraising events such as galas or auctions.
• Knowledge of community outreach and relationship-building in a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or similar field.
• Five years' experience in nonprofit fundraising (preferred).
• Relevant certifications such as HIV 500, DCF Level II background screening.
