About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a media outreach strategy aligned with WRC's advocacy goals.
  • Identify key media opportunities and pitch WRC stories, research, and spokespersons to relevant journalists and outlets.
  • Distribute press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and other media materials.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local, national, and international journalists and media outlets.
  • Support media outreach around major events, report launches, campaigns, and emergencies.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide regular updates and analysis of WRC's media impact.
  • Provide media training or talking points for WRC staff, partners, or spokespersons as needed.
  • Position key WRC staff as thought leaders.
  • Ensure all messaging is consistent with WRC's brand, values, and protection standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in media outreach, journalism, or strategic communications.
  • Strong network of media contacts, especially in humanitarian, gender, and/or refugee issues.
  • Familiarity with gender equality, refugee protection, and humanitarian issues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Experience working with advocacy organizations or NGOs is an asset.
