About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor: Provide technical guidance and develop less-senior engineers through mentorship.
• Drive the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge solutions for Sam's Data Platform team, including modernizing data infrastructure, implementing monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems, and developing platform management capabilities.
• Develop additional capabilities required, such as orchestration tools and profiling tools.
• Prioritize customer experience in all aspects of platform interactions.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (product management, engineering, etc) to achieve shared goals.
• Stay abreast of the latest technologies and industry best practices in data platforms, data engineering, cloud, etc.

Requirements

• Proven senior-level experience as a Software Engineer leading data platform development activity.
• Strong technical expertise in cloud computing platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS), Kubernetes.
• Experience with data platform tools such as Databricks, BigQuery, etc.
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration (Airflow preferred).
• Knowledge of data architecture, data engineering, and data management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Passion for customer experience and a strong drive to exceed expectations.

Nice to Have

• Background in creating inclusive digital experiences.
• Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices and supporting an inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
• Option 2: 8 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
• Preferred: Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
