About the Role

The End-to-End Solutions Architect II is responsible for translating business requirements into solution architecture deliverables within Ahold Delhaize USA. This strategic role involves collaborating with the Architecture Community and Product Owner to ensure business needs are understood and transformed into effective technological solutions. The architect will lead complex solution design across multiple projects, set technical direction, mentor other architects, and provide recommendations to product owners and business leadership. The position emphasizes a broader vision aligned with the architecture community, stakeholder engagement, technical feasibility analysis, and ensuring solutions meet security, performance, and integration standards. The role supports a flexible/hybrid work schedule with core locations in Salisbury, NC; Quincy, MA; Carlisle, PA; Scarborough, ME; and Mauldin, SC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, product teams, and development teams, providing technical recommendations and influencing decision-making processes for IT solutions and value stream optimization.
  • Responsible for developing and reviewing the solution architecture (blueprint) for products and value streams, including interaction requirements for components, subsystems, and interfaces.
  • Designs future-proof and scalable solutions considering hardware, infrastructure, and data constraints.
  • Ensures license efficiency and compliance with vendor guidelines within the solution architecture.
  • Promotes simplicity in IT solution design by re-using existing assets across the enterprise.
  • Contributes to the creation of IT and Architecture standards and guidelines to define overall solution architecture.
  • Mentors and provides technical guidance to other Solution Architects and product team members.
  • Identifies non-functional requirements and ensures architecture meets performance, security, scalability, and availability standards.
  • Leads the assessment and adoption of new technologies and methodologies to provide a competitive advantage.
  • Reviews IT solution engineering designs for compliance with architecture standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Advises program and project teams to embed security, privacy, and regulatory needs into solution design and execution.
  • Communicates and presents solution architecture designs to Enterprise Architects and architecture forums.
  • Evaluates project outcomes against expected benefits and recommends improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in technology or related fields.
  • 8+ years of experience in an advanced or technical leadership role, guiding or onboarding team members.
  • 8+ years of practical experience in IT architecture, software design, and development languages.
  • Working knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, microservices, and integration topics like event-driven architecture.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting complex application architectures.
  • Practical experience with CI/CD practices, build/test automation, containerization (e.g., Docker, AKS), and cross-platform stacks.
  • Experience with agile software development lifecycle and technology roadmap alignment.
  • Experience in budget planning and financial management of products or applications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in relevant field of study or additional certifications (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, Cloud Solution Architect).
  • 8 years of experience in Agile teams and product/platform operating models.
  • Experience in retail or grocery industry.
  • Practical experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines.
  • Experience interacting with infrastructure, network, and security aspects of product development.
  • Experience supporting IT Supply Chain applications, especially in Distribution & Transportation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in technology.
  • 8+ years of experience in an advanced or technical leadership role.
  • 8+ years of experience guiding or onboarding team members.
  • 8+ years of practical experience in IT architecture and software design.

  • Salary range from $120,960 to $181,440 depending on location, with higher ranges for IL/MA/MD.
