This team is at the forefront of creating impactful, editorially driven videos that inform and inspire audiences worldwide. As one of the largest media companies on YouTube, BI was recently honored with the Diamond Creator Award for surpassing 10 million subscribers. The role involves shaping the future of video storytelling, expanding into new distribution platforms, and collaborating across departments to grow audience and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and inspire a global video team of full time staffers, fellows, and freelancers, ensuring alignment across the US and UK.
  • Oversee editorial direction, setting the vision for coverage selection and execution.
  • Partner with newsroom leaders to align video storytelling with BI's editorial pillars: business, technology, the workplace, health, the economy, and more.
  • Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, fairness, and storytelling.
  • Provide incisive editorial notes on scripts, storyboards, and rough cuts, elevating both short- and long-form content.
  • Meet editorial goals for production and engagement.
  • Work closely with the head of video operations to coordinate and optimize production schedules.
  • Drive innovation in video formats, diversifying distribution across YouTube, FAST channels, and emerging platforms.
  • Collaborate across departments - including product, marketing, and sales - to ensure video content advances BI's brand, audience growth, and revenue goals.
  • Represent BI externally as a leader in digital video journalism, cultivating relationships with creators, distributors, and industry partners.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in video journalism, with a strong track record in managing large, geographically diverse editorial video teams.
  • Fluency with business journalism and an ability to craft excellent business-oriented videos.
  • Proven ability to deliver editorial feedback and shape stories.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well cross-functionally at senior levels.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance ambitious long-term projects with fast-turnaround video needs.
  • Deep understanding of YouTube, social video, and evolving digital video trends including the role of AI tools in video.
  • Solid understanding of analytics, industry trends, and competitor strategies to inform editorial and distribution decisions.
  • Experience with FAST channels or streaming platforms is a plus.
  • Passion for innovation in digital video and enthusiasm for reaching new audiences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with FAST channels or streaming platforms.

Benefits & Perks

  • Base salary: $215,000 to $225,000 (dependent on relevant expertise, and industry network). This position is eligible for an annual performance based bonus.
  • Unlimited PTO, 10 paid holidays, and 16 weeks of parental leave.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • Matched and vested 401k plan.
  • Access to resources for financial planning guidance, family planning services, mental health reach-out, and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP).
  • Additional benefits include commuter benefits, phone reimbursement, gym membership discounts, and more.
