About the Role

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle designed to carry people and payloads to various orbits, with a fully reusable first stage and human-capable design. The position involves designing, building, verifying, and continuously improving New Glenn's avionics flight software, supporting safe and repeatable spaceflight, and contributing to lowering the cost of access to space.

Key Responsibilities

Designing, building, verifying, and continuously improving New Glenn's avionics flight software.
Developing and maintaining software development tools, and software and hardware verification tools.
Supporting the mission by enabling faster, cheaper, and better rocket launches and landings.
Applying technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality to impact safe human spaceflight.

Requirements

Minimum of a B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
Experience writing low level software: bare metal systems, kernel development, BSPs, drivers, and the like.
Strong C, C++, and Python skills.
Working knowledge of Software Verification and Automation.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice to Have

M.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
Experience developing, debugging, and verifying real-time embedded safety-critical software.
Understanding of communications protocols like TCP/IP, UART, SPI and others, packet formats and serialization.
Experience developing software that directly interacts with hardware or programmable logic.

Qualifications

Experience with low level software development such as bare metal systems, kernel, drivers.
Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
Knowledge of Software Verification and Automation.
