About the Role

As an Embedded Software Engineer for Land & Air Systems at General Dynamics Mission Systems, you'll be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for airborne computers that process and display mission data in the cockpit, crypto products for identifying friendly aircraft, and weapon control systems that enable the launch and control of precision guided weapons. The role involves working to ensure the world's most advanced aircraft maintain air superiority and information dominance, with opportunities for continuous learning and development in a research-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate embedded software for airborne computers, crypto products, and weapon control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system functionality and performance.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and testing of embedded software solutions.
  • Support HW/SW integration and work with RTOS environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and innovative solutions to challenging problems.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
  • Requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree.
  • Agile experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at the time of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within the facilities.
  • Strong experience with embedded C, C++, and Python.
  • Familiarity with Rust programming language.
  • Strong experience with Linux.
  • Solid background in embedded software development, RTOS, and HW/SW integration.
  • Strong understanding of software development processes and engineering concepts.
  • Creative thinker capable of applying new information quickly.
  • Comfortable providing technical leadership.
  • Team player who thrives in collaborative environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Rust programming language.
  • Familiarity with RTOS and HW/SW integration.
  • Agile experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or a Master's degree.
