About the Role

We are hiring a talented Software Engineering Manager to help us build a world class developer platform to fuel the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. As a manager for the Developer Productivity area within the Engineering Systems organization, you will lead and expand our distributed engineering team, evolving our developer infrastructure and tooling to be elastic, large-scale, and highly performant with simplicity at its core. You will help Snowflake realize its mission of becoming the premier Data Cloud by accelerating the delivery of high quality software to production, driving strategy, and partnering with product managers on roadmaps and future demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and expand the distributed engineering team focused on developer productivity.
  • Evolve developer infrastructure and tooling to be elastic, large-scale, and highly performant with simplicity at its core.
  • Drive clarity on strategy and partner with product managers to chart quarterly and long-term roadmaps.
  • Ensure the team is executing towards current customer needs while staying ahead of technological trends and future demands.
  • Help realize Snowflake's mission by accelerating high-quality software delivery to production.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of software engineering management experience.
  • 10+ years of industry experience designing and building distributed data systems.
  • Proven experience leading distributed technical teams.
  • Experience with authoring roadmap documents, project plans, and RCAs.
  • Experience working with modern distributed build systems, IDEs, and cloud-based developer environments.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Fluency in Java, C++, Python, or Go.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate well, and mentor junior engineers.
  • A strategic mindset and strong sense of what to prioritize for maximum impact.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and outstanding written and oral English language skills.
  • Ability to work on-site at the Bellevue, WA office.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Bazel.
  • Experience with Kubernetes (k8s).
  • Experience with IDEs such as JetBrains or VS Code.
  • Experience with multi-tenant systems, focusing on reliability, performance, isolation, and security.
