About the Role

The ERP Software Engineer Specialist (SAP FI/CO Techno Functional) at BMW Manufacturing is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining SAP ERP systems to support business processes and innovation initiatives. The role involves close collaboration with business and IT partners, ensuring strategic alignment, system security, and compliance, while promoting agile methodologies and best practices within a leading automotive manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs business processes and innovation change initiatives in partnership with relevant local, global, and/or central business departments with great autonomy.
  • Facilitates delivery of IT services to process partners in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensures strategic alignment with BMW Group core IT processes.
  • Establishes strong partnerships with both business and IT process partners to deliver sustainable solutions to complex problems.
  • Communicates with BMW colleagues continuously through direct communications and project results.
  • Negotiates agreements with business and support functions in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Seeks to take initiative and proactively pursue duties within assigned space.
  • Mentors other resources on tasks and responsibilities.
  • Develops and builds application tables, panels, programs, and reports for ERP (SAP) based systems and projects.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues in assigned area.
  • Operates at the highest technical level of all phases of ERP/SAP client/server enterprise application activities.
  • Analyzes existing and future initiatives, prioritizes requirements based on strategy, and prepares local and global prioritization processes.
  • Ensures effective systems change control, problem management, and incident management to reduce risk and ensure business continuity.
  • Ensures the integrity, reliability, and reproduction of software products.
  • Ensures IT security and compliance of systems under operational control.
  • Develops and manages project plans including defining deliverables, budgets, milestones, and critical paths.
  • Reports and manages risks, progress of Sagas, Epics, and User Stories.
  • Manages efforts to design, develop, train, and deploy systems and procedures.
  • Ensures target achievement in assigned area.
  • Adheres to information protection, data, and systems security policies.
  • Promotes the use of standard processes and solutions.
  • Facilitates the use of Agile methodology for initiatives and tasks.
  • Manages software integration, external interface development, and technical documentation.
  • May code individual modules and complex functions in SAP systems.
  • Models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
  • Performs other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering or the equivalent of 4 years of experience in IT application development, maintenance, and support.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated success in IT or equivalent success in an IT-related function.
  • 5+ years of experience in planning, analyzing, designing, developing, testing, implementing, operating, documenting, and training of IT applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in implementing/configuring IT systems.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • 2+ years writing software for enterprise ERP systems in Java/ABAP.
  • Knowledge of programming languages including C/C++, Python, Java, HTML, JSP, J2EE, ABAP, SAPUI5/Fiori, SQL, Oracle, UNIX/Linux.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SAP FI/CO modules.
  • Familiarity with Value Added Production System (VPS) principles.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering or the equivalent of 4 years of experience in IT application management.
