About the Role

The FAST Labs - Mission Assessment Software Engineer - 3D Visualization role at BAE Systems involves supporting mission-level operational analysis through software development and creating immersive, technically accurate visualizations of complex engineering and weapon system data. The position emphasizes 3D modeling and animation to communicate complex technical data effectively to diverse audiences, including high-level USG officials. The role is part of the Mission Assessments organization, which aims to revolutionize mission analysis and effectively communicate the value of BAE Systems products to customers, DoD leadership, and warfighters.

Key Responsibilities

Support software development activities to modify, adapt, and interface tools to accomplish the Mission Assessments mission.
Translate complex technical mission data into immersive or easy-to-understand technical video clips.
Create technically accurate 3D animations and models extracted from MA tool sets, BAE product models, or Digital Engineering tools.
Work with industry-standard software packages such as MATLAB, Python visualization libraries, System Tool Kit, Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, Unreal Engine, and others to produce high-quality visual products.
Support modeling and operational analysis software used by BAE, including AFSIM, DIADS, NG3S, and other simulation environments.
Assist in developing 'Effects Based Models' by translating high-fidelity models into efficient, high-level effects-based models suitable for Monte Carlo simulations.

Requirements

Typically, a bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science with 8 years of work experience, or equivalent experience.
Personal or professional experience with 3D modeling software or 3D animation concepts.
Experience using analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, VBA, C/C++, or similar tools.
Creative interest in translating complex engineering or mission data into visually impactful animations.
Must have a final Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret DoD clearance with SCI accesses.

Nice to Have

Experience using industry-standard 3D modeling and animation software such as Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, Unreal Engine, Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with tools such as AFSIM, Suppressor, JIMM, BRAWLER, STK, TMAP, ESAMS, EADSIM, or EWIR, with AFSIM preferred.
Critical thinking skills across multiple levels of detail.
Top Secret clearance is a plus.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.
Experience with 3D modeling or animation software.
Proficiency with analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, VBA, C/C++.
