About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and upgrade Firebase extensions available to end-user developers.
• Meet monthly with customers to identify priority work for extensions based on feedback, best practices, software dependencies, and prioritization.
• Ensure all extensions and supporting infrastructure created are made available to users through Firebase's GitHub repository.
• Monitor and respond timely to customer feedback in the GitHub Firebase Extensions repository.
• Update design documentation, test plans, automated tests, and open-source source code as required by any extensions updates.
• Update documentation, documentation drafts, or features for the Firebase Extensions Hub (extensions.dev).
• Develop an AI framework to enable backend features, including GenAI platform capabilities, building SDKs, tools, and sample applications.
• Review third-party extension submissions to ensure they meet established guidelines.
• Maintain the usability of Kara's Coffee sample application and add new use-cases to showcase Firebase Extensions interaction.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Firebase Extensions development and maintenance.
• Proficiency in backend development, particularly Node.js environments.
• Experience with Google AI platforms such as Vertex AI, PaLM 2, Gemini.
• Experience with vector databases like Firestore VectorDB.
• Capability to design and implement AI frameworks and integrate GenAI functionalities.
• Expertise in developing and maintaining documentation, test plans, and automated tests for backend services.
• Experience in reviewing and evaluating third-party code submissions against established guidelines.

Nice to Have

• Experience with SDKs, tools, and sample application development related to AI frameworks.

Qualifications

• 5 - 8 years of experience in relevant technical roles.

• Salary range of $75,000-$94,000 per year.
