The role of a Forward Deployed Software Engineer involves building the business within a single customer context, identifying valuable problems, creating solutions, and owning the process from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solve high-impact problems by working closely with customers to understand their needs, developing innovative solutions, and demonstrating their value.
  • Identify and address complex, multi-domain problems affecting cashflow, production, safety, and the environment.
  • Create and implement technical solutions that scale across customers using Gecko's platforms and tools.
  • Continuously learn and grow by tackling difficult challenges and expanding technical expertise.
  • Engage with customers to understand their true needs and deliver impactful results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, or similar.
  • Understanding of how technical decisions impact user experience.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Comfort working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn continuously, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and interest to travel as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, React, Google Cloud, and Amazon Web Services.
