Internship - Commercial Analytics (MBA Opportunity)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Support the continued development of Calpine's corporate views on the commodity markets and the inherent fundamental risk factors
• Assist in developing models and tools used for power price forecasting, deal valuation & hedging, fundamental forecasting, and commodity margin forecasting
• Manage data integrity for Calpine's Commercial Analytics group
• Contribute to Calpine's modeling infrastructure, including asset and contract models as well as repositories of fundamental market data
• Participate in summer projects as determined at the start of the internship
• Support the MBA internship program as a potential pathway to the full-time Commercial Rotation Associate program

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an MBA program at an accredited college or university
• Minimum GPA of 3.3
• Preferred candidates will have 3-5 years of work experience prior to MBA
• Demonstrated aptitude in applying analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel
• Experience with programming tools such as R, VBA, Python, or similar (preferred)
• Ability to work autonomously and under pressure with multiple deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Team-oriented mindset with enthusiasm and drive
• Flexibility and ability to work harmoniously with others
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Legally eligible to work in the United States now and in the future

Nice to Have

• Experience with programming tools such as R, VBA, Python, or similar (preferred)
• Knowledge of the energy industry, specifically the independent power or utility sector
