About the Role

Seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our client's team in Glen Allen, VA. This role focuses on production support and feature enhancement of a critical legacy enterprise application, offering opportunities to stabilize, extend, and maintain essential business systems. The position involves working onsite with face-to-face interviews, and the project duration is initially 12 months, likely extending to 18-24 months or longer.

Key Responsibilities

Provide production support for a mission-critical legacy enterprise Java application.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve system issues in a timely and structured manner.
Design, develop, and deploy new features and enhancements to improve application functionality.
Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and operations teams to deliver reliable and maintainable software.
Participate in an on-call rotation (currently once every 12 weeks), with full training provided before assignment.
Adhere to organizational security protocols, including privileged access via CyberArk.
Gradually contribute to the modernization of the system, including microservices and containerization initiatives.

Requirements

Java with 10+ years of strong hands-on expertise in enterprise-level development.
Experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework including Spring Data and Spring Cloud.
Hibernate / JPA2 experience with HQL, JPQL, Hibernate Criteria, and JPA Criteria APIs.
Design, development, and integration of Web Services (SOAP & REST APIs).
Experience with Junit, Mockito, and test-driven development approaches.
Azure DevOps pipelines, deployments, and repository management.
Version Control experience with Git.
Experience with application servers like WebLogic 14+.
Knowledge of build tools such as Gradle and Ant, and experience with IDEs like IntelliJ or Eclipse.
Databases including Oracle 19c, SQL Server, MongoDB, and message streaming using Kafka.

Nice to Have

Exposure to microservices architecture, containerization, and domain-driven design concepts.
Experience using UI component libraries for full-stack visibility.
Experience with Agile software development lifecycle.
