About the Role

As a Lead Data Scientist at BMW Financial Services NA, LLC, located in Columbus, OH, you will be responsible for data discovery and building predictive models utilizing machine learning algorithms. You will translate business objectives into data science problems, lead analytical projects from development to implementation, and mentor other data-focused roles across the company. This role involves working with large datasets, deploying models in cloud environments, and communicating technical insights to non-technical stakeholders, all within a company that values Responsibility, Appreciation, Transparency, Trust, and Openness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate business objectives to data science problems and vice versa.
  • Lead analytical projects by transforming business requirements into actionable solutions, overseeing the entire project from development to implementation.
  • Use a combination of exploratory analysis and data mining techniques to identify and understand trends and anomalies.
  • Design, develop and validate predictive, prescriptive models for business use cases, ensuring successful adoption of the models by the business.
  • Utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify, develop innovative modeling solutions and implement necessary monitoring to deploy models in production.
  • Use data storytelling skills to communicate deep technical outcomes from models to non-technical audiences, leveraging data-driven visuals.
  • Utilize AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms to deploy, manage, and scale AI models and machine learning solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Serve as the SF2-US Center of Excellence for Data Science standards and processes, including training and coaching on techniques and tools.
  • Foster model improvement efforts through communication with model users by collecting feedback and discussing it with other experts and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, economics, engineering, or a similar quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a data scientist or similar in a corporate environment.
  • Experience using AI tools; preferably Jupyter with Python, Data Robot, and SAS.
  • Experience using BI tools; preferably Tableau.
  • Experience using SQL; preferably Postgres SQL and T-SQL.
  • 3 years leading agile project delivery for analytical topics.
  • 3 years of experience in the Financial Services or Automotive Industry (preferred).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative field or equivalent experience.
