About the Role

The Lead Engineer, Software Engineering (Boomi Development) at XPO is responsible for overseeing the development, deployment, and maintenance of integration processes between applications across cloud and on-premise environments using the Dell Boomi platform. The role involves providing technical guidance, leading a team of developers, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality, secure, and efficient integration solutions within a fast-paced, innovative company environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the team of developers, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure quality, adherence to best practices, and maintainable code.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to the team on system architecture and design decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to plan project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Assist developers in resolving complex technical issues and challenges.
  • Identify and implement performance optimizations for integrations and processes.
  • Ensure the team follows quality assurance processes, including testing and documentation.
  • Oversee the deployment process, coordinate with other teams, and ensure smooth production releases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine and define integration requirements and create solution options.
  • Assist BSA/QA team members with requirement gathering and testing instructions in Boomi.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication within the team and with stakeholders, including status updates and issue resolution.
  • Ensure proper documentation of code, integrations, and processes for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide periodic operational and project status reports to management.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain integration processes between applications using Dell Boomi Atmosphere platform.
  • Manage, monitor, troubleshoot, and support existing integrations.
  • Work with architects, other tech leads, systems analysts, and QA to align development activities with scope, schedule, and business objectives.
  • Analyze integration requirements, perform gap analysis, create technical design documents, and maintain source/destination field mapping library.
  • Implement encryption and security protocols to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Perform unit testing and maintain development artifacts for audit compliance.
  • Contribute to long-term vision by implementing methodologies and procedures conforming to standard integration patterns and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience.
  • 4 years' relevant software development experience including creating business applications with relational and non-relational database systems.
  • 4 years of demonstrated experience in a technical lead role.
  • Advanced knowledge of IT software development methodologies and processes.
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors: data model, SFAPI/ODATA API, and Integration Center.
  • Strong understanding of protocols/methods of communication such as XML, XML Schemas, WSDL, SOAP, REST, JSON, Groovy, FTP, SFTP, PGP, JDBC/SQL/RDBMS, JMS, Mail, HTTP/HTTPS.
  • Knowledge in infrastructure-based landscapes for distributed architecture, Atom/Molecule sizing & benchmarking.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with implementing integrations for Global HR, Payroll, and Time & Attendance (UKG) initiatives.
  • Experience with Jira.
  • Experience with other middleware tools and technologies.
  • Experience with integration performance tuning and process improvements.
  • Programming experience with Java and related technologies.
  • Experience with creating Service catalog and API Management.
  • Automation development experience.
  • Professional Dell Boomi Developer or Architect certification.
