Job Description

About the Role

The Lead Quality Assurance Specialist serves as a team leader for a quality assurance team, responsible for assigning work, providing feedback, arranging training, and contributing input to supervisors. The role involves reviewing contracts, communicating with contractors to ensure compliance, assessing quality controls, creating risk management programs, evaluating supplier quality systems, and maintaining relevant data and correspondence. This position supports the government's efforts to ensure contractual and organizational quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as a team leader for a quality assurance team, assigning work, providing feedback, checking progress, arranging training for team members, and providing input to supervisor.
  • Reviews contracts to identify specification requirements needed from contractors.
  • Communicates with contractors to ensure contractual compliance of contractor processes.
  • Assesses contractor/subcontractor/vendor quality assurance controls and adjusts product audits accordingly.
  • Creates risk management programs to mitigate the Government's risk by analyzing data and contractual requirements, preparing surveillance plans, and addressing specific customer/organizational requirements.
  • Evaluates supplier quality systems using data validation, post-award first article meetings, and test reports, then recommends dis/approval to contracting officers.
  • Evaluates responses to quality issues from suppliers and requests corrections.
  • Retains relevant data, correspondence, audits, and related documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Security clearance: Noncritical-Sensitive with secret access.
  • Completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • One year of specialized experience related to reviewing contracts, technical data, and designing risk management programs.
  • Experience in reviewing contracts and technical data packages to identify specification requirements.
  • Experience in designing, planning, and implementing risk management programs to address threats to contract delivery.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with government contracting processes.
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition engineering and technology management.
  • Ability to achieve 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every 2 years.

Qualifications

  • Experience at the GS-12 level or equivalent, with one year of specialized experience at GS-11 or equivalent.
  • Experience in reviewing contracts, technical data, and implementing risk management programs.
