About the Role

The CoCounsel AI Assistant team is both a platform and a product team. The Lead Full Stack Software engineer will build user-facing features for the CoCounsel chat application and platform capabilities to enable partners across the company to reach customers. The role involves developing application code, creating easy-to-use frameworks and component libraries, and ensuring team efficiency in a fast-moving field. The position requires deep expertise in backend engineering with consideration for frontend and platform implications, especially as evolving LLM capabilities demand coordinated changes across the stack. This is an individual contributor leadership role emphasizing technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and collaboration across the technical stack.

Key Responsibilities

Build user-facing features that drive the CoCounsel chat application and platform capabilities to enable company partners to reach customers.
Develop delightful application code, easy-to-use framework and component libraries, and promote team efficiency and productivity.
Bring deep expertise in backend engineering while considering frontend and platform implications, especially with evolving LLM capabilities such as real-time streaming.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the technical stack.
Mentor other engineers, break features into stories, discuss implementations, and contribute to technical leadership.

Requirements

At least five years of professional software development experience.
Experience in technical leadership, including mentoring engineers and discussing implementation strategies.
Deep expertise in back-end technologies and architectures such as Python, React, FastAPI, event-driven systems, API design, websockets, RPC, or SSEs.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
Self-starter mentality with quick learning and adaptability.
Proven ability to execute both tactical and strategic solutions.

Nice to Have

Experience with AWS or GCP.
Experience with large language models, machine learning applications, metrics, and agentic systems.
Track record of utilizing cutting-edge AI tooling and techniques.
Strong opinions about the future of LLM-driven application UX.

Qualifications

Formal computer science education is a plus but not required.
Experience with tools and technologies relevant to backend and frontend development.
Experience in technical leadership roles.

Base salary range in the US: $88,200 - $163,800, with potential annual bonus.
