About the Role

The CoCounsel AI Assistant team is both a platform and a product team. The Lead Full Stack Software engineer will build user-facing features for the CoCounsel chat application and platform capabilities to enable partners across the company to reach customers. The role involves developing application code, creating easy-to-use frameworks and component libraries, and ensuring team efficiency in a fast-moving field. The position requires deep expertise in backend engineering with consideration for frontend and platform implications, especially as evolving LLM capabilities demand coordinated changes across the stack. It is an individual contributor leadership role emphasizing technical expertise, interpersonal, and communication skills, working collaboratively across the technical stack.

Key Responsibilities

Build user-facing features which drive the CoCounsel chat application, and platform capabilities to enable partners from around the company to reach our customers.
Develop delightful application code, easy-to-use framework and component libraries, and push the team to be efficient, productive, and nimble in a fast-moving field.
Bring deep expertise in backend engineering while thoughtfully considering frontend and platform implications, especially with evolving LLM capabilities such as real-time streaming.
Work collaboratively with colleagues up and down the technical stack.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to other engineers.
Discuss and evaluate competing implementations and break features into manageable stories.

Requirements

At least five years of professional software development experience.
Experience in technical leadership such as mentoring engineers, breaking features into stories, and discussing implementations.
Deep expertise in back-end technologies and architectures (e.g., Python, React, FastAPI, event-driven systems, API design, real-time communication such as websockets, RPC, or SSEs).
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
Self-starter mentality with quick learning and adaptability.
Proven ability to execute both tactical and strategic solutions.

Nice to Have

Experience with AWS/GCP, large language models, machine learning applications, metrics, and agentic systems.
Track record of utilizing the cutting edge of AI tooling and techniques.
Strong opinions about the future of LLM-driven application UX.

Qualifications

Formal computer science education is a plus but not required.
