About the Role

The Lead Full Stack Software Engineer will work within the CoCounsel AI Assistant team, which functions as both a platform and a product team. The role involves building user-facing features for the chat application, developing platform capabilities, and integrating backend and frontend considerations, especially as evolving LLM capabilities require coordinated stack changes. This is an individual contributor leadership role that emphasizes technical expertise, collaboration, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build user-facing features that drive the CoCounsel chat application and platform capabilities to enable partners across the company to reach customers.
  • Develop application code, framework, and component libraries that are delightful and easy-to-use, while promoting team efficiency and productivity.
  • Bring deep expertise in backend engineering with consideration for frontend and platform implications, especially in the context of real-time streaming and LLM capabilities.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the technical stack and communicate with stakeholders and other leaders.
  • Work on both tactical and strategic technical solutions to support the platform and product goals.

Requirements

  • At least five years of professional software development experience; formal computer science education is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in technical leadership, including mentoring engineers and breaking features into stories.
  • Deep expertise in backend technologies and architectures such as Python, React, FastAPI, event-driven systems, API design, websockets, RPC, or SSEs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • A self-starter mentality with quick learning and adaptability.
  • Proven ability to execute both tactical and strategic solutions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AWS or GCP cloud platforms.
  • Experience with large language models, machine learning applications, metrics, and agentic systems.
  • Track record of utilizing cutting-edge AI tooling and techniques.
  • Strong opinions about the future of LLM-driven application UX.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in computer science is not required but a plus.
  • Experience with mentoring and leading engineering teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in backend systems and architectures.

  • Base salary range in the US: $88,200 - $163,800, with potential annual bonus based on performance.
