About the Role

Join the dynamic and cross-functional team at Kraft Heinz Research & Development as a Product Development Manager! This role focuses on leading product development for the Limited Assortment channels, working with iconic brands like Oscar Mayer, Kraft, Capri Sun, Kool Aid, and Heinz. The position involves driving innovation, strategic initiatives, and technical leadership across all phases of projects tailored for retail environments such as club, dollar, and convenience stores. The role interfaces extensively with multiple functions including R&D, Quality, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Supply Chain, with a focus on delivering high-quality, cost-advantaged solutions that meet channel-specific needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, drive, and lead innovative and product technology initiatives to deliver novel, competitively and cost-advantaged solutions across the Kraft Heinz portfolio, especially for Limited Assortment environments where simplicity, speed, and shelf efficiency are critical.
  • Create and implement R&D-led strategies to accelerate the Limited Assortment Innovation Pipeline, including gauging feasibility, developing prototypes, and identifying manufacturing processes and locations for technically challenging projects.
  • Deliver strategic plans for the category with an emphasis on channel-fit innovation, reformats, and pack/price adaptations.
  • Assist in scoping and facilitating business opportunities that require speed to market, minimal complexity, or cost-optimized solutions.
  • Participate in Stage Gate meetings, providing R&D input focused on channel constraints and operational feasibility for Limited Assortment retail.
  • Work directly with business units, cross-functional teams, plants, and suppliers to manage projects and direct developers.
  • Manage resources and budgets for the category, including initiatives focused on renovation or reapplication for channel-specific formats.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure product quality and food safety requirements are defined and delivered through raw material, finished product, and quality specifications that ensure high-quality products for various formats and retail environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Masters is a plus) in Food Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience in the food industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and ability to build effective teams.
  • Growth mindset and challenge self and others to apply new insights.
  • Strong experience in commercialization and understanding of ingredient interactions/functionality.
  • Self-motivated problem solver with the drive to deliver objectives in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent influencing skills.
  • Willingness to travel 20%, including within the United States and Canada to internal plants, co-manufacturers, and suppliers.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with product reformats and packaging adaptations for retail environments.
  • Experience working across multiple functions including R&D, Quality, Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in Food Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience in the food industry, preferably 6+ years.
