Key Responsibilities

Provide analytical support for the wholesale electricity market and grid operations.
Perform analytics with market data and develop market reports.
Assist in monitoring, forecasting, and analyzing the ERCOT wholesale market and external markets such as power futures and exchanges.
Apply principles of electricity market theory to understand and forecast market behavior and outcomes.
Investigate methods for data analytics and visualization to develop improved analytical tools.
Generate and maintain market reports, communicating technical assessments and strategic insights.
Model, forecast, and resolve issues within the ERCOT wholesale market and grid operations using power engineering knowledge.
Assist management and senior experts in providing technical assistance and strategic insights to PUCT, industry, stakeholder groups, and the public.
Attend stakeholder, industry, and PUCT meetings and provide input when requested.
Develop understanding of market mechanics, business processes, and ERCOT systems.
Test and validate changes to applications used by department members.
Develop, test, and validate changes to applications developed by the department.
Perform engineering studies using ERCOT network models to analyze system conditions and events.
Proactively model, forecast, and resolve future issues and opportunities in the market.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related discipline.
Proficiency in programming languages like Python, database tools like SQL, and data visualization tools like Power BI.
Strong Excel skills for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
Problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.
Knowledge of statistical concepts and techniques for data analysis.
Knowledge of power engineering and electricity market theory (preferred for entry level).
For Level 2: Minimum 1 year of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements.
For Level 3: Minimum 3 years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements.

Knowledge of power engineering and electricity market theory (required for entry level).

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent knowledge in a related discipline.

Benefits & Perks

Salary range of $82,344 - $131,720, based on experience.
