About the Role

The Office of Admissions at Ball State University is seeking a creative, strategic Marketing Content Specialist to lead high-priority communication projects. The role involves developing impactful messages, producing persuasive copy, and designing engaging creative assets for diverse audiences across multiple platforms. The position aims to support student recruitment, strengthen the university's brand voice, and create content that inspires action, with applications accepted through September 4th, 2025. Candidates must have current authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and execute marketing campaigns that support each stage of the admissions funnel—from lead generation through application, admission, and enrollment.
  • Oversee projects from initial concept to final delivery, coordinating timelines, creative development, and stakeholder input.
  • Ensure all campaign elements are strategically aligned with enrollment goals, tailored to prospective students and families, and consistent with the university's brand and messaging standards.
  • Develop original, engaging, and brand-aligned content for various platforms, including email and print materials, crafting persuasive copy and creating visual materials.
  • Create and maintain user-friendly, visually appealing, and brand-aligned web content that supports student recruitment and engagement efforts, including original copy and visuals.
  • Ensure web content reflects the university’s strategic goals, adheres to accessibility standards, and remains current, accurate, and consistent across departments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and campus partners to optimize user experience and support evolving enrollment marketing needs.
  • Manage multiple projects efficiently, monitor production schedules, and communicate progress proactively.
  • Maintain expertise in emerging design trends, technologies, and best practices in higher education marketing.
  • Contribute innovative ideas, design approaches, and content strategies to enhance marketing effectiveness.
  • Support and attend Admissions events as needed, which may require evenings or weekends.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least two years of professional experience in advertising, marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
  • Proficiency in copy-writing, editing, and design for print and digital projects.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Strong creative and visual storytelling abilities.
  • Proficiency with design software (Adobe) and understanding of design principles.
  • Basic understanding of HTML.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Advertising, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Three or more years of professional communications and marketing experience, ideally in a university environment.
  • Experience with a CRM system.
  • Proficiency in HTML.
