About the Role

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. The Kids and Families GenAI team helps build and enable high-quality GenAI experiences for kids and teens, ensuring access to safe, age-appropriate, and helpful AI experiences across Google. The Platforms and Devices team focuses on developing new technologies across various computing platforms and devices to make user interactions faster and more seamless.

Key Responsibilities

Build and improve machine learning models to predict safety, age-appropriateness and quality of AI generated responses across a wide variety of modalities (text, image, video, audio) and kids and teens user journeys.
Collaborate with a strong group of engineers in the organization, learning and applying cutting-edge ML techniques in order to build safe and high-quality AI experiences for kids and teens.
Analyze Cross-Product Area (xPA) data, build data pipelines and drive production stability.
Align work with cross-functional partners working on product, policy, content strategy, and trust and safety.
Contribute to cross-team collaborations with other engineering teams working on Gen AI products for kids and teens.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
1 year of experience with core GenAI concepts (LLM, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) and experience with text, image, video, or audio generation.
1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).

Nice to Have

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
Experience with C++ or SQL.

Qualifications

Educational background includes at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with relevant technical skills and concepts as specified in requirements.

Benefits & Perks

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, with individual pay influenced by work location, skills, experience, and education.
