About the Role

Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) is the world's largest telematics service provider dedicated to making roads and drivers safer. As a Principal Data Scientist, you will develop algorithms related to vehicle and human movements measured by sensors and IoT devices, solve complex real-world problems, and contribute to innovative data-driven solutions that enhance company products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use independent judgment and discretion to create innovative and cutting-edge algorithmic solutions, employing unconventional approaches to address complex challenges with a broad impact on the company.
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior data scientists through all phases of solution development, including data pre-processing, modeling, testing, deployment, and performance monitoring in live environments.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills to effectively convey complex data science concepts to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by engaging with diverse teams and promoting cross-functional cooperation.
  • Stay at the forefront of research and emerging trends in data science.
  • Evaluate and validate the potential impact of new ideas on the platform, products, and customer experience.
  • Complete additional tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in the Data Science field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing commercial software with strong algorithmic, AI/machine learning, or signal processing components.
  • Deep understanding of data science principles, algorithms, and practices, including deep learning, machine learning, statistics, probability, signal processing, and sensor physics.
  • Proven coding skills using scripting languages such as Python, Pandas, NumPy, and SQL.
  • Advanced knowledge of Big Data infrastructure, computation, storage, and scalable AI/ML platforms & tools like Spark, Ray, TensorFlow, Keras, Torch, Caffe.
  • Strong visualization and data literacy skills, with the ability to translate mathematical representations into simple visualizations and statistical results.

  • Experience with additional AI/ML frameworks and tools.
  • Strong customer-focus and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in Data Science.
  • 3+ years of experience with commercial software development involving algorithms, AI/machine learning, or signal processing.
