About the Role

Senior software architect responsible for coordinating across a portfolio of products that are deployed in Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) environments globally. GE Vernova is the leading software provider for the operations of national and regional electricity grids worldwide. This role involves partnering closely with lead software architects in cyber security, data, power transmission, and power distribution domains to ensure secure, performant, and composable designs and implementations. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the individual will facilitate architectural strategy and oversee best practices for large-scale, scalable microservice architectures within the GridOS product lines, supporting the energy transition and modernization of energy sector software systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the formalization and standardization of data models and API standards for GridOS Operate and Transact applications, ensuring interoperability and efficiency.
  • Implement and advocate for the Common Information Model (CIM) standards to ensure consistent data representation and exchange across systems.
  • Contribute to architecture reviews across the organization, leading decisions and communications related to GridOS Operate and Transact applications.
  • Work with the Architecture SteerCo and Developer Standard Practices team to establish standard practices for GridOS platforms, applications, and services.
  • Ensure data modeling and API standards are accurately documented and maintained in collaboration with documentation teams.
  • Drive the use of contract-based development models across engineering teams.
  • Coordinate backlog planning and identify/manage cross-team dependencies related to architecture standards and deliverables for GridOS solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or STEM majors with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing data architectures and common data models.
  • Deep understanding of modernizing monolith applications into microservices and disaggregation strategies.
  • Expertise in defining and implementing API standards and contract-based development models.
  • In-depth knowledge of CIM standards and their application within the energy sector.
  • Understanding of data mesh and data fabric principles.
  • Knowledge of microservice architecture and software development at scale.
  • Understanding of Kubernetes, including API, custom resources, Helm, and manifest standardization.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and GitOps, especially in secure, air-gapped environments.
  • Knowledge of mobile software architecture for field operations, offline support, and near-realtime systems.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with key energy industry technologies such as SCADA and geospatial network modeling.
  • Experience in ADMS, OMS, and Power Applications architecture and implementation.
  • Experience with GE solutions in energy management systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or STEM majors.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
