About the Role

Position Summary... What you'll do... As a Principal UX Designer, People Design, you will employ your depth of knowledge and experience designing enterprise software and digital experiences to make the complex simple, clear, and trusted. Through your obsession with the design craft, you'll set a high standard of design excellence for the experiences you design. You will craft consumer-grade, delightful experiences that are inclusive and connect all associates, streamlining everyday tasks to provide value and delight. You'll demonstrate your natural curiosity to listen, understand, and draw out insights from research and analytics to improve how your designs should evolve. While diving into the interaction patterns and business processes of today, you'll be able to imagine and articulate improved future states of those products through design. You'll bring your great strengths in storytelling to present your vision and product design rationale in a compelling, convincing manner to the wider team. While working with partners to determine a shared plan forward that balances business and technology considerations, you will create and champion an experience that is highly engaging and usable and deliver pixel-perfect detailed design with your team. You are an innovator, who applies their curiosity and entrepreneurship to help drive forward-leading designs. Key Responsibilities

  • Own points of view across your products and initiatives and collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional partners through delivery.
  • Create the experience strategy and set a design direction for your products that deliver on user needs and business objectives.
  • Actively solicit feedback from peers and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the product design lifecycle.
  • Engage the design research team at appropriate points during the design process to ensure insights inform the work.
  • Rapidly prototype and experiment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multitask across different projects and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Create scalable, enterprise-wide experiences to deliver both horizontal and vertical best-in-class UX.
  • Work with Design System teams to expand the component library where applicable.
  • Champion the Design Thinking philosophy throughout the business.
  • Communicate effectively with kindness and empathy.
  • Own and deliver all phases of product design work, including defining the north star, distilling research, design ideation, prototyping, final spec design, and implementation.
  • Facilitate creative problem-solving across cross-functional partners to drive best-in-class thinking and seamlessly integrate organizational goals.
  • Drive and hold others accountable to create experiences that celebrate and empower end users.
  • Leverage and share design research, competitive analysis, data, and analytics to create full-featured, strategic products.
  • Foster a maker mindset for teams to iterate and experiment collaboratively.
  • Build true end-to-end experiences with a holistic approach.
  • Switch between deep design thinking and rapid execution.
  • Tell complex stories around systems with clarity, engagement, and detail.

Requirements

  • Ability to define and advocate for a design vision and follow through with a plan to deliver it.
  • Track record of shipping high-impact, high-visibility products in a fast-moving environment that celebrates experimentation and iteration.
  • Experience leading the product design process and building strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • Excellent visual and interaction design skills with an understanding of marketplace trends.
  • Strong strategic mindset and systems-thinking approach.
  • Deep understanding of employee-facing experiences and HR technology.
  • High standards for design quality and ability to set new standards for design delivery.
  • Ability to communicate concepts clearly and compellingly to audiences of all levels.
  • Ability to produce quality work in short timeframes, multitask across projects, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Deep experience with end-to-journey mapping, facilitating Design Sprints, conducting competitive analysis, and leading rapid prototyping.
  • Desire to champion a design philosophy that fosters a culture of belonging.
  • Experience working across portfolios to drive consistency and quality.
  • Systems approach to design work.

  • Design certification (e.g., IDEOU - Foundations in Design Thinking Certificate).

  • Master's degree in UI/UX Design, Interactive and Visual Design, Product Design, or related area.
  • Related industry experience (retail, supply chain, eCommerce, healthcare).
  • Knowledge of creating inclusive digital experiences and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years' experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
