The Product Monetization Strategy team inside MAI is responsible for defining how we create user experiences that delight users and business models that empower advertisers to meet their goals. We are seeking an experienced and innovative, Product Marketing Director, MAI Monetization, an individual contributor to lead Product Marketing for new monetization products across our suite of channels, such as Search and Copilot. The scope of work can include advertising, new monetization models, and the release of internal CRM tools to help us better serve our customers. This role involves collaboration with product managers and marketing partners, leading thoughtful go-to-market strategies, defining appealing product positioning, and influencing customer-centric roadmaps. The candidate will serve as a key leader in positioning, messaging, and go-to-market execution for monetization products, representing Microsoft in strategic industry discussions, and enabling internal teams to scale product understanding and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Seek market intelligence signals and lead customer listening strategies and execution to identify growth opportunities, investment priorities, and inform the product roadmap.
  • Determine areas of market research and create deep collaboration with the field to connect with clients and understand their needs.
  • Understand competitors' strengths, weaknesses, and Microsoft's competitive positioning, and anticipate the business implications.
  • Provide expertise in developing insights from market or user research, competitive analyses, and industry trends.
  • Synthesize and articulate customer feedback, mobilizing internal teams to address it.
  • Lead the creation of a differentiated value proposition that aligns with customer goals.
  • Drive the development of product positioning and value proposition pillars with tangible proof points and crisp messaging aligned across stakeholders.
  • Support partner teams in client-facing communication and enablement.
  • Clearly articulate our product story in blog posts and tentpole event presentations for marquee product launches.
  • Lead go-to-market strategies for effective product releases, maximizing adoption, and customer satisfaction.
  • Set clear goals and impact metrics, orchestrating cross-functional teams to leverage marketing and sales channels.
  • Develop and execute impactful launch strategies leveraging key industry and first-party events.
  • Act as a trusted partner and leader in the generative AI (GAI) space, representing Microsoft in strategic discussions with advertising executives and industry events.
  • Provide guidance to internal partners on Microsoft's differentiated value proposition and growth strategies for ad revenue.
  • Ensure that Learning and Development, Sales, and Marketing teams are aligned with the product roadmap, positioning, and value proposition.
  • Lead strategic product training sessions to drive excitement and clarity around key product announcements.
  • Proactively seek feedback from diverse clients and users, uncovering new growth opportunities and mitigating bias in AI products.
  • Lead a culture of continuous learning, encouraging open conversations and ensuring all voices are heard.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in product marketing, especially in monetization products or related fields.
  • Strong collaboration skills with product managers, engineering, and marketing teams.
  • Experience applying customer listening approaches to influence product decisions.
  • Ability to define compelling and differentiated product positioning and messaging.
  • Experience in leading go-to-market strategies and product launches.
  • Excellent communication skills, including articulating product stories and presentations.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, competitive analysis, and market research techniques.
  • Experience representing a company in strategic industry discussions and events.
  • Ability to develop insights from market and user research.
  • Strong leadership in enabling internal teams and scaling product understanding.
