About the Role

Dewberry is a leading, market-facing professional services firm with more than 60 locations and 2,500+ professionals nationwide. The Project Manager Designee III is responsible for representing the Business Unit (BU) and Project Manager (PM) with accounting and financial matters, acting as the primary contact with Corporate Accounting, and ensuring compliance with Dewberry's established accounting standards. This role involves coordinating financial and accounting activities related to projects within their assigned BU or PM, supporting the financial performance and reporting of projects, and assisting with day-to-day financial management tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Project Accountant (PA), Business Unit Manager (BUM), and Project Manager (PM) to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all financial and accounting related matters for projects within their assigned BU or PM.
  • Assist the PM with accounting and financial matters related to project financial performance.
  • Support day-to-day financial management of assigned projects, including job/contract setup, contract verification, invoicing, invoice adjustments, sub consultant management, accounts receivable tracking, collections, and job closeout.
  • Maintain open communication with the primary PA to ensure efficient, timely, and quality results.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance by their assigned BU with Dewberry’s business policies for time entry, expense reporting, travel, and other business processes as trained by Corporate Accounting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and advanced knowledge of ERP business tools and workflows.
  • Knowledge of business contracts and invoice processing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to translate direction, feedback, and strategy into actionable results.
  • Strong collaboration skills with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to interpret data and identify issues based on trends.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with a preference to accounting or an equivalent field of study.
  • Proven history of maintaining financial and technical data.

Qualifications

  • Educational background with a preference for a bachelor’s degree, ideally in accounting or a related field.
