About the Role

The Python Developer works as part of a team to implement functionality as part of multiple efforts to build data processing applications while taking ownership of some pieces of the software development lifecycle. The role involves interfacing with existing systems, developing new functionalities, and ensuring code quality through automated testing and CI/CD pipelines. The position requires active TS/SCI FSP clearance and is based onsite in Chantilly, VA. It is a contract role supporting a US Federal Government contractor, with responsibilities including cloud deployment, large data processing, and API development in Python.

Key Responsibilities

Work with the Chief Engineer and Technical Leads to translate requirements into user stories to incorporate new functionality into various software applications.
Build with automated testing frameworks to ensure code quality and robust CI/CD deployment processes.
Develop web APIs to interface with cloud applications and databases as part of cloud native software applications.
Work as part of an Agile team to deliver software iteratively.
Integrate Python code into Docker containers as part of a distributed architecture.
Design software application components independently based on requirements.
Guide technical design and architecture in alignment with best practices.
Interface with customer stakeholders to align on requirements and technical implementations.

Requirements

1-5 years of Python experience.
Active TS/SCI FSP clearance.
Experience with API development in Python.
Minimum 3-5 years' experience with Data Processing Python Libraries such as PySpark, Pandas, and Numpy.
Experience with Unit Testing Frameworks in PyTest and Mocking.
Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and translating requirements into user stories.
Experience with cloud software deployment processes, including containerization and parallel processing.
Familiarity with large data processing using packages such as PySpark.
Experience developing web APIs to interface with cloud applications and databases.

Nice to Have

Experience with Python ORM tools for database as code such as SQLAlchemy.
Experience deploying containerized Python code using Docker on cloud platforms such as AWS.
Experience using NLP toolkits and frameworks to integrate into production systems.
Experience deploying AI Models into production using Python Libraries and Frameworks.

Qualifications

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Due to the nature of the work, a United States Government Clearance is required.
