Job Description

About the Role

The QA Engineer - Networking L2/L3 role involves designing, automating, configuring, and qualifying customer use cases based on IOS-XR platforms such as ASR9K, NCS5500, and 8000. The position is part of the Customer Validation Testing (CVT) team at Cisco, which develops solutions powering large networks worldwide. The team collaborates globally across centers in the US, Canada, and India, focusing on qualification and automation of influential technologies for deployment in high-end Cisco Web and Service Provider customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Craft, automate, configure, and qualify customer use cases based on IOS XR platforms, including generating test plans and dynamically prioritizing tasks based on customer demands.
  • Design and develop innovative test frameworks and tools to support the test execution environment, including web-based GUIs that utilize analytics and machine learning to display and analyze execution results.
  • Drive test cases both manually and through automation, raise, track, prioritize, and verify defects and fixes.
  • Proactively seek continuous improvements in test coverage, execution, and automation, optimizing performance and configuration dimensioning.
  • Reproduce customer issues in internal test labs as requested by the customer support team and generate test execution reports.
  • Collaborate with development teams, account teams, and customers to understand and validate customer use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master's degree in STEM with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Networking domain experience working with L2 or L3 networking protocols such as ISIS, BGP, MPLS, IPv6, GRE, MPLS-TE, LDP, RSVP, Segment routing, L2VPN, L3VPN, EVPN.
  • Experience in networking software quality assurance.

Nice to Have

  • Certificate in CCIE (Routing & Switching / Service Provider / Data Center).
  • Experience on platforms such as ASR9K, NCS5500, NCS5000, NCS540/NCS560, NCS6K, CRS, 8000.
  • Demonstrated experience with RDMA technologies and protocols such as InfiniBand, RoCE, or iWARP.
  • Experience in OpenFlow, Netconf & REST API.
  • Background in network automation tools like pyATS, Ansible, Jenkins, Robot framework, and Cisco NSO.
  • Expertise in UNIX/Linux environments and Bash/Unix Shell Scripting, with experience in configuring/fixing protocols such as L2/L3 VPN, EVPN, Segment Routing, IPv6, MPLS-LDP/RSVP-TE, Multicast, SNMP, Telemetry, gNMI, gRPC, Netconf & OpenConfig Yang Models.
