About the Role

The Open 6G R&D center at the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things is seeking Research Engineers to drive infrastructure development, management, and activities of the Open6G Open Testing and Integration Center (OTIC), recognized by the O-RAN ALLIANCE. Northeastern University Open6G hosts Colosseum, the world's most powerful wireless network emulator, supporting advanced research in spectrum sharing, AI, and machine learning. The role involves working in a multidisciplinary environment across RF, computer engineering, and networking systems, with opportunities to participate in tutorials, demonstrations, publications, and conferences.

Key Responsibilities

Management and evolution of the Colosseum platform
Coordination of the OTIC activities
Testing cellular and Open RAN equipment

Requirements

BS (preferably MS) in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or equivalent
Three years or more of experience with progressively more responsible, independent engineering work
Development experience with bash scripting, C++, and Python programming languages
Proficiency in operating within a Linux environment
Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary environment across RF, computer engineering, and networking systems

Nice to Have

Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment frameworks (CI/CD) such as Jenkins and Ansible
Experience with software-defined radios

Qualifications

Educational background in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering
Experience with programming languages such as bash scripting, C++, and Python
Experience with CI/CD frameworks and software-defined radios is a plus
