About the Role

We are open to hiring candidates to work out from Seattle, WA, USA. At AWS Security, we're on a mission to revolutionize builder enablement in the AWS Vulnerability Management space. We're seeking a Senior Applied Scientist specializing in generative AI to join our team and lead the development of provable security solutions that protect our customers and empower our builders. The role involves addressing critical cloud security challenges related to third-party software vulnerabilities, leveraging expertise in generative AI and machine learning to develop innovative security approaches, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate these solutions into existing workflows. The position offers an opportunity to make a substantial impact across AWS, contribute to security resilience, and shape the future of cloud security through AI innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead research and development of generative AI solutions to address security challenges in Vulnerability Management.
Develop and implement data-driven decision frameworks to analyze patterns in the package environment and quantify the impact of security improvements on builder productivity.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate scientifically-validated security measures into existing workflows.
Design and conduct experiments to solve complex security problems.
Develop scalable, AI-driven solutions to efficiently respond to vulnerabilities in software packages.
Create and implement long-term strategic plans for integrating generative AI into AWS security practices.
Publish research findings in scientific venues and contribute to the broader Amazon Science community.
Mentor team members and provide expertise on a range of machine learning topics related to security.

Requirements

3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience.
PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience.
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.

Nice to Have

Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.
Experience with conducting research in a corporate setting.
Experience in model training and fine-tuning, in-context learning, and AI agents.

Qualifications

Educational background including a PhD or Master's degree with relevant research experience.
Proven experience in machine learning model development and applied research.
