About the Role

The Senior AWS JAVA Backend Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain high-complexity software applications across mobile, web, cloud, and server platforms. The role involves leading problem-solving, system integration, and infrastructure change management within an Agile/Scrum environment, providing technical leadership in debugging, testing, and deploying scalable solutions. The position is based in Chicago, IL, and is a full-time, onsite, temporary role with an estimated duration of 10 months.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-complexity software applications (mobile, web, cloud, server).
Lead problem-solving, system integration, and infrastructure change management.
Work in an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Provide technical leadership in debugging, testing, and deploying scalable solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, innovation-driven culture.

Requirements

8+ years of Java development experience (6+ years with Master's degree).
3+ years of hands-on AWS experience including CloudFormation, ECS, Lambda, Fargate, ElasticSearch, S3, IAM.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of cloud-native development across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
System design experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, MVC, and RESTful APIs (Swagger, Postman).
Testing and QA experience with TDD/BDD using Selenium and Cucumber.
Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Master's degree with 6+ years of experience.

Nice to Have

Experience designing and deploying applications using microservices architecture.
Experience with container orchestration and cloud infrastructure.
