About the Role

The Senior Data Scientist, Engineering Analytics will help advance the engineering and maintenance organization through the application of innovative and robust analytical and modeling solutions aimed at deriving insights from complex aircraft mechanical performance data. This role involves developing machine learning models, natural language processing solutions, and predictive maintenance tools to improve aircraft reliability and operational efficiency. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate insights effectively, and contribute to continuous improvement in data science practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions for complex business problems in the engineering, predictive maintenance, and aircraft reliability space
  • Make appropriate selection, utilization, and interpretation of advanced analytics methodologies
  • Participate in continuous improvement of data science by developing replicable solutions and well documented models
  • Seek further knowledge on key developments within data science and related fields
  • Provide technical education on advanced analytics to the data science community
  • Clearly communicate impacts of the recommended analytics solutions to business partners to drive adoption and implementation

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience (Doctoral degree preferred)
  • 3-5 years of work experience in advanced analytics and data science
  • Working knowledge of GIT for code management
  • Good written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in present position
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AWS services for Data Science development (e.g., Sagemaker, S3, Bedrock) or equivalent cloud services
  • Fluency with SQL and relational databases
  • Knowledge of transformer architecture and current landscape of LLM
  • Working knowledge of API Consumption
  • Proficiency in building and fine-tuning transformer-based models (e.g., BERT) for NLP and classification tasks
  • Familiarity with API consumption and orchestration of pipelines
  • Comfortable with command-line tools and automating workflows via Python scripts
  • Hands-on experience with prompt engineering
  • 5 or more years experience in the Data Science domain
