About the Role

The Senior Lead, Power BI Developer at BMO is responsible for designing and developing dashboards and analytics solutions to provide actionable business insights. The role involves working with data visualization tools, collaborating with teams and stakeholders, and optimizing data analysis processes to support decision-making within the organization, primarily focusing on business/group within BMO with potential enterprise-wide scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build various reporting dashboards using appropriate data extraction, data cleaning, and data visualization techniques.
  • Provide value through insights, reporting, and data visualization techniques, selecting, configuring, and implementing analytics solutions for consistency and repeatability.
  • Research and apply continuous improvement in data visualization by identifying trends and patterns to transform raw data into actionable business insights.
  • Work with different teams, management, and stakeholders to enhance the usability and aesthetic appeal of data analytics solutions deployed in the organization.
  • Translate business needs to technical specifications and evaluate existing data visualization systems to improve them.
  • Develop data visualizations of large data sets that facilitate intuitive presentation to decision makers.
  • Document data flow, systems, and processes to improve design, implementation, and management of business/group processes.
  • Develop tools and deliver training programs for reporting tools and self-serve analytics for non-analytical end users.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Work independently on complex tasks, including unique situations, with broader work or accountabilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years experience in a professional capacity creating, managing, and publishing Power BI Data Sources.
  • Intermediate to advanced DAX skills including creating DAX measures, leveraging variables, managing filters, and tuning data source design for performance.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years experience creating, managing, and publishing Power BI dashboards with skills in advanced chart creation, interactivity, filters, parameters, bookmarks, and templates.
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years experience in SAS, including connecting to databases, data extraction, data transformations, and process automation.
  • Foundational proficiency in technical design optimization, decision making, systems thinking, data visualization, storytelling, data mining, illustration, creative thinking, and problem solving.
  • Intermediate proficiency in insights design, reporting, communication, collaboration, analytical skills, and data-driven decision making, typically with 4-6 years of relevant experience and related education or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in insights design, development, and reporting, with 5-7 years of relevant experience and extensive education and business experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data extraction, data cleaning, and visualization techniques.
  • Experience automating processes and scheduling data workflows.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
