About the Role

We're Clover, the largest cloud-based integrated commerce operating system for small and medium businesses. You've probably seen us in your favorite restaurants and shops; we support over 700k+ merchants worldwide. Clover enables merchants to accept payments, run their business and sell more. In this role, we're looking for an experienced backend software engineer to help improve/expand our platform and product. You will be involved in maintaining and adding new features, resolving bugs, creating documentation, and re-architecting our system for better scalability and availability. Partnering with the Infrastructure, Product and Design teams, you will work in an iterative environment with changing specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement REST APIs for mobile and web clients including our web dashboard, 3rd party apps, and payment devices.
Identify technical requirements in product meetings and assist the business team with project planning and feature development.
Translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, and extensible software aligned with company objectives.
Own your features from development through deployment and production monitoring.
Participate in design and code reviews.
Partner with the Infrastructure Team to design data models supporting large-scale, highly available services.
Work with QA to develop test plans and strategies.
Participate in a regular on-call rotation.

Requirements

7+ years of experience developing web applications including designing and managing scalable APIs.
7+ years of experience with Java, including hands-on coding and debugging.
Proficiency with SQL or NoSQL databases, including database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with modern web development frameworks and technologies.
Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapting to changing requirements.
Analytical skills with experience to make data-driven decisions.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience with MongoDB, ArgoCD, Kubernetes or Helm Charts.
Knowledgeable with integrating AI Tools to bring in efficiency and improve productivity of teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Benefits & Perks

Salary Range $99,900.00 - $171,200.00 (applicable to employees in Illinois, California, and District of Columbia).
Incentive eligible associates may receive an annual incentive, which may include a cash bonus and/or equity awards.
