About the Role

The Senior Programmer Analyst, Clover Backend Engineer at Fiserv is responsible for developing and maintaining scalable backend systems for Clover, a cloud-based integrated commerce operating system supporting over 700,000 merchants worldwide. The role involves improving platform features, ensuring system scalability and availability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to transform merchant business operations through innovative backend solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement REST APIs for mobile and web clients, including web dashboards, third-party apps, and payment devices.
Identify technical requirements in product meetings and assist the business team with project planning and feature development.
Translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, and extensible software aligned with company objectives.
Own features from development through deployment and production monitoring.
Participate in design and code reviews.
Partner with the Infrastructure Team to design data models supporting large-scale, highly available services.
Work with QA to develop test plans and strategies.
Participate in a regular on-call rotation.

Requirements

7+ years of experience developing web applications, including designing and managing scalable APIs.
7+ years of experience with Java, including hands-on coding and debugging.
Proficiency with SQL or NoSQL databases, including database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with modern web development frameworks and technologies.
Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapting to changing requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with MongoDB, ArgoCD, Kubernetes, or Helm Charts.
Knowledgeable with integrating AI tools to improve team efficiency and productivity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Salary range of $99,900.00 - $171,200.00 (applicable to employees in Illinois, California, and District of Columbia).
