About the Role

The Senior Software Engineer at Optum Services, Inc. is responsible for researching, designing, and developing computer and network software or specialized utility programs. The role involves supporting fraud, waste, and abuse analytics across various claim types and platforms, implementing new analytics, optimizing machine learning modules, supporting the software development lifecycle, troubleshooting, developing batch scheduling and file delivery jobs, and collaborating with data engineering teams to improve platform reliability. The position offers telecommuting options from anywhere in the U.S. and is part of a company dedicated to making healthcare work better for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs.
Support UHC Fraud, Waste and Abuse Pre-pay analytics across all Lines of Business claim types and claim platforms.
Implement new analytics, enhancements to existing analytics, and conduct analytic research requests.
Optimize advanced Machine Learning modules to meet strict timelines.
Conduct release activities supporting the Software Development Life Cycle through production deployment.
Troubleshoot software issues, identify infrastructure problems, and drive resolutions.
Develop and implement batch scheduling and file delivery jobs to meet application needs.
Support data ETL processes including data extraction, transformation, and loading.
Research, analyze, and restore issues impacting production and production-like environments.
Collaborate with partner data engineering teams on bug fixes to improve platform reliability.

Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
One (1) year of experience in a computer-related occupation or the specified job.
Experience with Big Data environments, including Hadoop and/or Spark.
Programming skills in Java, Scala, and/or Python.
Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
Experience with Data Analysis and PySpark.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology.
Experience with cloud development environments such as MS Azure.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
