About the Role

The AM&D (Autonomous Mobility & Delivery) team owns the autonomous future of Uber's Rides and Eats business, which is one of Uber's most important bets as a public company that sets the world in motion. Our goal is to eventually enable mass-scale AV commercialization globally in all 10,000+ cities Uber operates. We are just getting started. The team is focused on solving engineering challenges related to safe, trustworthy, and informative autonomous vehicle experiences for riders, eaters, merchants, and drivers, with the aim of driving AV adoption and ensuring platform stability for future growth.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a strategic roadmap that helps Uber achieve specific business goals and strengthens Uber's position as the Autonomous Vehicle rideshare platform of choice.
Lead and guide end-to-end execution of multiple projects concurrently across various lines of business, leveraging deep knowledge of experience, marketplace dynamics, and platform versatility to drive key metrics.
Ship new products and paradigms that improve KPIs quarter over quarter while ensuring platform stability.
Develop technology that future-proofs Uber's tech stack for Autonomous Vehicle use cases and makes a broader company-wide impact where applicable.

Requirements

6+ years of Backend Engineering experience.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, or Go.
Product background.

Nice to Have

5+ years of total software development experience.
Extensive experience with fast-pace metrics-driven product iterations with strong reliability guardrails.
Experience in crafting and developing large scale distributed systems and scalable backend services using microservices architecture.
Extensive experience working in a fast-changing, groundbreaking domain.
Background in transportation and/or autonomous vehicle industry.
Experience building modular and scalable solutions for various clients and use cases.
Experience applying Operations Research and Machine Learning in product engineering.
Experience navigating complex cross-functional collaboration with product, design, business, legal, operations, and technical teams.
Experience working closely with external partner engineering teams.
Any level of enterprise mobile engineering experience.
