Key Responsibilities

Own substantial workstreams, including both new user-facing features and improvements on our existing services ecosystem
Work collaboratively with a team of software professionals, and prioritize high-level work
Represent your engineering team in organizational process discussions and projects
Collaborate with a team of mobile, backend and data science practitioners as well as product and delivery managers to create and deliver a seamless, tailored experience for our users
Contribute substantially to platform architectural decisions and enhance our team's ability to make correct decisions that stand the test of time
Help build and maintain internal administrative applications that support core functioning of our technology platform
Help us achieve operational excellence in the software development by participating in and leading code reviews, quality assurance, and production monitoring
Take personal responsibility for keeping all Well systems and data, including sensitive member data, secure and safe, according to Well data and security policies and HIPAA guidelines

Requirements

Minimum of 6 years of software development experience
Experience working with Node.js, React, Typescript, and a broad area of interest spanning other similar/promising programming languages
Proven grasp of engineering principles, common tools, patterns, algorithms/libraries, use cases, key trade-offs, and systems design
Strong coding capabilities and ability to resolve complex technical challenges
Willingness to learn new patterns, languages, technologies, and methodologies
Good understanding of microservices and monolith patterns with insight into choices and tradeoffs involved
Experience with modern cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Good understanding of the HTTP stack and REST APIs
Good understanding of databases and their tradeoffs
Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js
Experience with backend for front end design, especially supporting Android and iOS mobile applications
Good understanding of security principles in software development, especially for consumer-facing applications

Nice to Have

Proficiency in Terraform development
Proficiency in database design in DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, or related systems
Experience in healthcare contexts is considered a plus but not a necessity
Knowledge or experience with backend for front end design supporting Android and iOS mobile applications
