Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Command and control system application development
• Software Integration and formal testing
• Implement Cyber Security/RMF requirements
• Present advanced concepts to non-software engineers, including senior program and military leaders
• Mentor and teach junior engineers
• Performance modeling
• Work with microservices
• DevSecOps and/or build management work
• Designing and building Graphical User Interfaces
• Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks
• Work independently, and possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment
• Work effectively in a rapid-paced, team environment
• Provide specialized expertise within multiple systems and software disciplines, as well as general knowledge of related disciplines, applications implications, and customer areas
• Perform in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support
• Maintain currency, debug, and configure related software products
• Work from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications
• Assist with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation of programs
• Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve overall efficiency of the operating system
• Design, code, test, and implement tools for operations automation
• Work on most phases of software systems programming applications, with some guidance in other phases
• Possibly serve in a leadership position on small software-focused teams

Requirements

• Current/active in-scope DoD issued SECRET security clearance
• 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline
• or a Master's degree and 6 years of experience
• or a PhD and 4 years of experience
• or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
• DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND)
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%
• Strong Java/J2EE experience
• Knowledge of coding standards, automated testing, automated build pipelines, and configuration management
• Experience developing enterprise applications on Linux and Windows
• Extensive experience with Java foundation classes and toolkits
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Use of common software development and management tools such as Maven, Git/GitHub, Nexus, Eclipse
• Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
• Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and solution implementation

Nice to Have

• Current and active TS/SCI clearance
• Knowledge of server-side/database development
• Experience in computer system administration
• Experience with Net-centric, horizontal integration programs
