About the Role

Walmart's Enterprise Business Services (EBS) is a team of seven exceptional groups delivering world-class technology solutions and services that make a profound impact at every level of Walmart. As part of Walmart Global Tech, the teams focus on operational excellence and leverage emerging technology to support millions of customers, associates, and stakeholders worldwide. The Inkiru team’s mission is to detect and prevent fraud in real time, enabling a safe shopping experience across online, in-store, and marketplace platforms. The team comprises passionate engineers, data scientists, and product managers dedicated to building scalable systems that process data at Walmart’s scale to derive insights in milliseconds for lightning-fast fraud detection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain high performant APIs and software services that extract information from large metrics and graph data stores to support data scientists in fraud and risk detection.
  • Build and maintain backend services using Java, JavaScript, and Jetty for high volume data ingestion and processing.
  • Design, build, and maintain datastores that support high availability and high performance.
  • Store large amounts of data using database technologies such as MySQL and MongoDB, and develop tools for easy interaction with software platforms.
  • Develop robust, maintainable, reusable code and software tools for managing configuration, deployment, monitoring, performance, scalability, availability, security, and alerting across testing, integration, and production environments.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis for the Fraud Detection Software Platform.
  • Engage in discussions to develop system design and architecture for new software products or improvements to existing ones.

Requirements

  • Strong Java development experience.
  • Experience with cloud application development including scalable, data-driven, and message-oriented architecture.
  • Experience designing scalable microservices for production systems.
  • Experience designing loosely coupled services using asynchronous message processing including Kafka.
  • Experience working on cloud-scale relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging J2EE web-based enterprise applications.
  • Experience with design patterns.
  • Experience with version control systems including GIT.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area, OR 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Minimum education and experience: Masters degree or equivalent with 2+ years, or Bachelors degree or equivalent with 5 years of experience.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area with 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and supporting an inclusive culture.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience, OR 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: Master's degree in relevant field with 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
